2026 Porsche Taycan Black Edition First Look: Big Battery, Dark Features
This special edition of the all-electric Porsche Taycan brings a darker look and a pile of normally optional features as standard.
The Porsche of electric cars, the Taycan offers great driving dynamics and velocity in both an straight line and in the curves. It’s also the quickest car to 60 mph we’ve ever tested in GT Weissach form, but not everyone needs that model’s bonkers performance—or wants to sacrifice things like the rear seats and other comfort items—even if they do want some measure of exclusivity. If that sounds like you, the 2026 Porsche Taycan Black Edition is a new special package that offers some unique tweaks while doing nothing to diminish its high capabilities in your local mountain or back roads.
Available on the Taycan, Taycan 4, and Taycan 4S models, it won’t be available only in black. Volcano Grey Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, and Ice Grey Metallic are among the no-cost paint options in what Porsche calls the “Shades” category of colors (which normally cost $820). If you want to branch out from monotone, no problem: Pony up some extra money and choose from Porsche’s Legends or Dreams categories or go custom with Porsche’s Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus programs.
The Black Edition is really a combination of popular options into a one-stop shop, including the SportsDesign package that adds high-gloss black to items such as the exterior mirrors and interior trim. You also get 21-inch wheels with full-color Porsche crest center caps, Porsche’s HD-Matrix Design LED headlights, and, this is maybe the best part, the upgraded Performance Battery Plus pack with a 105-kWh capacity. According to the EPA, that means the rear-drive base Taycan Black Edition returns up to 318 miles of maximum range, the 4 returns 294 miles, and the 4S returns 295 miles.
Among the options made standard on the Black Edition are Porsche logo puddle lights, illuminated door sill plates that read, uh, “Black Edition,” and 14-way power front seats with memory and the Porsche crest on the headrests. Black embossed leather is applied throughout the cabin, but you can pay extra to swap in Slate Gray or a two-tone look.
Bose surround-sound audio with Dolby Atmos mixing is also along for the rise, as well as Porsche Electric Sport Sound to provide audible feedback as you drive. Also included are typically extra-cost ADAS features like Lane Change Assist and Surround View with Active Parking Assist. Finally, the center console gets a storage package and a “Black Edition” badge. The 2026 Porsche Taycan Black Edition is available to order now but exact pricing will be released closer to its fall delivery date.
