Amanda Holden’s special moment with Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas
The TV star hosted the Royal Variety Performance, where Christmas sang in front of the king
What did you miss?
Amanda Holden has told how special it was getting to introduce Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas onstage at the Royal Variety Performance.
The singer won the talent show earlier this year and as part of her prize got to perform at the show, which was attended by King Charles. This year it was hosted by Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) judge Holden and her close friend, comedian Alan Carr.
Speaking on The One Show on Monday, 9 December, she said it was “amazing” to have been there when Christmas performed.

What, how and why?
Presenter Roman Kemp noted that Holden had been the judge to press the Golden Buzzer and send Christmas through to the semi-finals on BGT. He said she must have been “very proud” as Christmas sang for the monarch.
“It’s amazing,” Holden said. “Because obviously the prize for Britain’s Got Talent is always to go on the Royal Variety and some years we are privileged enough, we introduce the act, and a lot of years we haven’t been able to make it.

“So for me to be hosting it with Alan and then get to introduce her. And she and her family are just gorgeous.”
“Both of us felt really proud of Sydnie,” Holden added.

She added that when she and Carr went on holiday to Corfu, they met up with Christmas and her family “and had a bit of lunch”. “And then we went in the doughnuts didn’t we?” she said. “On the back of a speedboat.”
When did Sydnie Christmas win Britain’s Got Talent?
Christmas won the ITV talent show in June, wowing viewers and judges Holden, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli with her vocals.
She won her spot at the Royal Variety Show and £250,000, which she previously admitted she had to be chased to accept.

She said on This Morning earlier this year: “I just thought, ‘Do you know what? What am I going to spend that money on?’ It’s in the best bank account where it was.”
“Life took off and it didn’t stop,” Christmas continued. “I was like, ‘Yes I will give you my bank details at some point, I’m so sorry.’ And then doing that, doing this. Life just took me off.”
The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm on weekdays.
The Royal Variety Performance will air on 15 December at 8pm on ITV1.
