The C-class EV will likely share its platform with the GLC EV and should debut at some point in 2026.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled its latest electric SUV, the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class EV, at the IAA show in Munich and gave the first peek at a new face that looks like it will spread across the German brand’s electric lineup. The GLC EV wears a dazzling grille composed of 942 individual illuminated square dots. A shadowy teaser image for the upcoming C-class EV shows a similarly ornamental front end.

The darkened image doesn’t show much, but the light-up grille is clearly visible, featuring a narrow LED strip around the outside border of the vaguely hexagonal panel. Within the grille, there are rows of tiny square elements divided by horizontal vanes. At the bottom, the light show stops, and there appears to be an actual opening to allow cool air to flow to the battery and motors.

Not much else is visible, but we can see a clear sedan shape and headlights that angle downward and contain a thin LED “eyebrow” and an LED element in the shape of the three-pointed star found in the iconic Mercedes-Benz badge. The glitzy grille is optional on the GLC EV—the standard grille has the same look but isn’t backlit—and the same should hold true for the impending electric sedan.

The C-class EV is expected to debut at some point in 2026 and will likely go on sale in the United States the following year. The arrival of the electric compact luxury sedan could coincide with a refresh for the gas-powered C-class, since the current generation first went on sale for the 2022 model year.

The C-class EV will likely share a platform with the GLC EV, which is being offered with either a 369-hp single-motor or 483-hp dual-motor powertrain. The all-wheel-drive GLC EV is expected to return around 376 miles of range via a 94-kWh battery pack. Look for more information to be revealed about the Mercedes-Benz C-class EV over the coming year.
