There’s a New Batman SUV From a Most Unexpected Source
With a release set for International Batman Day, the 2025 Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition is certainly one way to celebrate the Dark Knight.

Batman might not seem like the most relatable hero in the DC Comics universe, what with being a billionaire by day and fighting crime and injustice at night. But he does so with innovative technology, wit, and (lately) brute strength, rather than superhuman or godly powers. Hey, save up, get a gym membership, grab some sweet gadgets, and maybe you, too, could do his job. Batman is also a merchandiser extraordinaire—well, the real-life owner of his IP is, Warner Bros. Discovery, is—and while the caped crusader serves as inspiration for myriad products, the latest is… an Indian EV.
Manufacturer Mahindra and its BE 6 electric SUV are the unlikely progeny of Batman’s brand aura. Meet the 2025 Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition. Maybe Mahindra sees a tie-in between Batman’s tech-y vibe and, well, EVs. Or maybe it sees a lot of marketing upside in a Batman-themed vehicle going on sale out of sync with any upcoming Batman movie that we don’t.
Turns out, India has a large and passionate fanbase for Batman, though that’s not hard to believe considering it has a population that’s just shy of 1.5 billion people. It has slightly more people than China and both countries have just over 1 billion more people than we have in the US. Thus, you can’t deny that a vehicle like the 2025 BE 6 Batman Edition should have enough of a draw, certainly for the 300 units Mahindra plans to build.
While Mahindra is more associated with tractors, other types of farm equipment, and the Roxor side-by-side here in the U.S., it has a global presence as an automotive manufacturer based out of India. It started as a producer of knockdown kit Jeeps under a licensing agreement, but this has extended into its own manufacturing beyond that with modern SUVs. It also has presence in the Formula E series, its two drivers finishing the 2024/2025 season in the Top 10 in points. And then there is the BE 6, Mahindra’s second of three all-electric releases since 2023. Introduced in 2024, the BE 6 enters its second full year of production and first with the Batman Edition.

No Tumbler interpretation, the BE 6 is mostly a pedestrian EV SUV festooned with Batman stuff, a badge and theme makeover from the regular BE 6 Pack Three trim and mostly borrowing the style from the Christopher Nolan version of the Batman film series. This means it comes standard with a 79-kWh battery pack and a single motor that produces 282 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque while driving the rear wheels. We will note that for an everyday EV SUV, the BE 6’s angular shape and detailing certainly lends itself to the Dark Knight’s aesthetic, especially with the changes it gets for Batman Edition duty.

First is the badging, which features the same Bat design from the Nolan Dark Knight trilogy. These badges are found on the front quarter panels, rear bumper, center caps, windows, rear windshield, and interior. Almost all the exterior badges are finished in Alchemy Gold while the center caps are finished in silver to match the BE 6’s unique 20-inch wheels, an exclusive size from the 19-inch rollers on the regular Pack Three. There is also a “BE 6 x The Dark Knight” badge on the rear in that unique gold coloring.
You’ll also find the Alchemy Gold paint treatment on the brake calipers and the suspension springs. The satin black body color is unique to the Batman Edition, while a Batman image decal is applied to the front doors. There are also “Carpet Lamps” that illuminate the ground with the Dark Knight bat logo and gives you the impression of the Bat Signal is lit, just as it’s done throughout the Batman franchise to call the superhero out of billionaire hiding and into action.

Inside, you will find more The Dark Knight themes, starting with the Infinity Roof—Mahindra’s term for an all-glass roof—that features the Bat emblem from the exterior. You’ll also find that the leather and suede surfaces are finished in charcoal and feature gold sepia contrast stitching. The Dark Knight bat emblem is embossed on the seats along with the Boost button and other interior labels. Alchemy Gold is used on the numbered plaque, while brushed gold is used in the halo surrounding the driver cockpit. The passenger side of the dashboard features a pinstripe graphic and the Dark Knight bat emblem. There are further gold accents on the steering wheel, In-Touch controller, parking brake button, and on the custom key fob. Finally, there are special Batman-inspired branding in the infotainment display welcome animation and the exterior sound generates a note that is fitting to the Batman’s Batmobile.

In all, the 2025 Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition does its duty to fulfill its role as a special, limited promotion of Dark Knight. There are only two problems for us. The first is that Mahindra doesn’t sell it in the U.S., where if in tariff-free and strict exchange-rate fantasy land, it would cost the same $31,827 equivalent as it does in India. If you happen to live in India, order books open for it on August 20, and the first examples go out on September 20, just in time for International Batman Day. The second problem? Nifty as the Batman Edition of the car we don’t get is, we might be just slightly spoiled with the Dark Knight Tumbler we do get, despite its roughly $3 million price tag.
