It’s said to be inspired by California’s Central Coast, which is not typically referred to as “the Emerald Isle.”

Kicking off Monterey Car Week, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a limited edition of the Maybach S-class.
The Maybach S680 Emerald Isle is a run of 25 cars, all painted two-tone green and white.
The model also features special interior finishes.
A little more than 5000 miles separates Ireland and the west coast of California, but Mercedes merges the two in its latest custom-curated Maybach S-class. The Mercedes-Maybach S680 Emerald Isle may be named after the North Atlantic island of verdant green fields, whisky, and leprechauns, but its maker says California’s Central Coast inspired the car.

The car is finished in two Manufaktur colors: Mid Ireland green metallic over Moonlight white metallic. The four-seat interior is slathered in light brown nappa leather, with quilted-stitched black leather on the ceiling. Extra-thick carpet floor mats are also edged in leather, and the piano-black trim gets chrome accent stripes.

The smell—that’s where the Central Coast comes in. This S680 gets its own special fragrance for the in-cabin ionizer, and it’s said to combine sea salt, cypress, and cedar. The fragrance bottle is adorned with an image of Monterey’s lone cypress to help you make the connection.

Twelve Cylinders > Eight Cylinders
Like all S680s, the Edition Emerald Isle is powered by a 621-hp 6.0-liter V-12, rather than the 496-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 in the S580. Air springs and active sound damping are standard. When we last tested an S680, we recorded just 64 decibels at 70 mph.

Bridging the New World and the Old, the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S680 Edition Emerald Isle goes on sale this fall. There’s no word on pricing, but given that the standard S680 is just under $250K, prospective buyers may want to locate that pot of gold before heading to the showroom.
